The main purpose of GSAF2016 is to use art as a medium to create awareness toward proposed south-coast man-made island project in Penang.

Penang state government is proposing RM40billion Penang Transport Master Plan (PTMP) which will be funded through the auction of three plots of reclaimed land in the southern coast of Penang island, involving 4000 acres of land reclamation.

The organizer of GSAF2016 are not at the stand to decline the project, but we think it is crucial for Penangites to be aware, care and understand more about the impact of this project. 

We welcome you to join us and gain some insights towards the project while enjoying a variety of art performances, including singing, band performances and poet recital. Apart from musical performances, be expect for a glance at sketches of the beautiful Gertak Sanggul by Urban Sketchers and talented little sketchers from various schools, including the local kids from Gertak Sanggul.

Besides, there are also games and activities for the public to take part, like kite flying, 'siput' digging etc. You who love camping should definitely join the overnight camping to enjoy camp fire, milky way and cool night sea breeze at the beach!


 

This project is initiated by 8 volunteers, that consist of artists, musicians, photographers and experience art event organizers.

Running an art festival need fund for basic facilities like sound & lighting system, logistic, artist token, promotion materials etc. As the festival has no commercial purpose and no ticket selling in order to encourage more people to come and explore more, we decided to call for public contribution . We are declining funds from politician as we do not want to turn the festival into a political campaign.
